Biography

Born and raised on the island of Pico, Azores, Chico Avila emigrated to California in 1979. The first eight years of his career were dedicated exclusively to the American music scene which gave him the opportunity to sing throughout California in hotels, resorts, night clubs, county fairs and also Caesar’s Tahoe. 

In 1987, he started to sing to the Portuguese community and recorded his first project in Portuguese.  To date Chico has  produced and published a total of   24 projects.

Early 2007 the Portuguese Radio of Sydney presented Chico with  a plaque acknowledging him of being Australia’s highest selling Portuguese Artist of 2006. 

Early 2008 he returned to Australia  by popular demand , taking his shows to Brisbane, Melbourne, Wallongong, Perth and Sydney.

Chico has appeared live on the following television networks: RTP Internacional, RTP1, SIC, FOX TV, and CBS as well as many local TV programs in the different communities.  Chico continues to tour the United States, Canada, Brazil,  Portugal mainland,  Azores, Australia and Venezuela  and now is beginning to tour many European countries...  

He also continues to take his music on the well known "Chico Avila Cruises with America Travel" on the beautifull ships of Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise Lines.
